My name is Shelby Talcott, and I'm a 26-year-old former University of Iowa student athlete and current professional tennis player. I majored in journalism, and received a certificate in entrepreneurship. Besides playing tennis, I enjoy reading, writing, hanging out with my friends, family, and dog, and eating, obviously! I have had the opportunity to travel around the world for my tennis, and look forward to using this blog to bring news and other information from the places I journey to.
I began tennis at the age of 12, and grew to love the sport. After attending one year of public high school, I decided to study online for my remaining three years, which gave me the opportunity to receive a full athletic scholarship for my four years at Iowa. I played at the top of the lineup all four years, and after two years of playing professionally, I have reached a career high professional singles ranking of 574. With one professional doubles title to date (January 2017), my career high doubles ranking is 499 in the world. My goal is to continue to climb the rankings and play in the grand slams by next year.
